Just like a human baby, a husky puppy will also go through a teething stage as they are born without teeth. This normally occurs around the 6 to 8 week age where their gums will become sore as their baby teeth push through. Generally speaking a canine will have approx 28 teeth in total and are referred to as the deciduous teeth.
The entire teething process tends to last a good few months with periods of on/off activity, you will find that some days there will be no sign of teething and another day your fur baby will show a lot of discomfort. Generally speaking the process on the whole causes a lot of discomfort for your husky and can also cause additional stress for the household with increased chewing, biting and behaviour changes.
When your puppy is between 3 to 7 months you will find they begin to lose the deciduous teeth and gain their full adult teeth. Normally starting with the incisors, then premolars and finally the canine teeth. The molars don’t show until around 6-7 months as the final part of the teething process which generally speaking is completed come the 8th month.
By now your little fur baby should have a nice set of teeth in the region of 42 teeth, this number varies for some dogs. During this entire teething process there are times when you really wish you could help your puppy out and there are actually things we can do to assist.
